Dr. Dean L. Bartles is the President of the National Tooling and Machining Association. He recently served as the Director of the John Olson Advanced Manufacturing Center at the University of New Hampshire and was previously the founding Executive Director of the Digital Manufacturing and Design Innovation Institute in Chicago. Dr. Bartles worked for General Dynamics Corporation for 30 years setting up and running manufacturing operations in Egypt, Turkey, and the US and prior to that he worked for Fairchild Republic Company. He recently served as the 2016-2017 President of the North American Manufacturing Research Institute, the 2016 President of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers, the founding Chairman of the Smart Manufacturing Leadership Coalition, and the Chairman of the Board of the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining. Dean graduated from Indiana State University earning a Ph. D. in Technology Management with a concentration in Manufacturing Systems.

Rahul Chaturvedi is the founder and CEO of VIE Technologies Inc., a leading end-to-end Industrial Internet of Things solutions provider. He is a 25 year wireless industry veteran and a prolific innovator with 15 patents to his name. As an early top executive at Nantworks, a Patrick Soon-Shiong company, Rahul developed a significant expertise in turnarounds and mergers. Grey Dziuba is currently IoT Practitioner at Splunk. As a Solutions Engineer at Splunk to helped enable customers and partners to use Splunk in the IoT and industrial manufacturing environment by leveraging his experience as a former Automation and Controls Engineer, where he enjoyed spending most of his time answering, “Why’d the machine stop?”. Splunk was the tool he used to answer this question and wants to make that question a thing of the past. Bill Fienup, director and innovation services and co-founder, is a mechanical engineer, product developer and serial entrepreneur who has designed toys for Hasbro and researched fusion energy for Los Alamos National Laboratory. Bill holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a co-founder and president of Catalyze Chicago, which provided space, equipment, mentorship and community to dozens of early-stage product development entrepreneurs. Before merging into mHUB, Catalyze occupied 8,000 square feet, served close to 200 members who filed 80 patents, raised $21M, generated $57M in revenue and created dozens of new jobs. Bill started his career as a product design consultant for IDEO and Insight Product Development, where he was noted for his imaginative, innovative solutions to client needs. With deep experience in mechanism design, product development and complex electromechanical systems, Bill shifted from consulting to become an entrepreneur. He started several companies, including Ecofurn and MB Labs, which focused on connected devices. Bill holds 11 patents — including a bandage dispenser, biopsy needle and a NERF Atom Blaster™ with more pending, including several related to 3D printing. Kenneth Labhart is the North American Innovation Leader for Supply Chain Performance. In this role, he supports implementation of Smart Factory initiatives throughout Schneider Electric’s North American facilities. EcoStruxure is a major component of these initiatives, as well as Proof-Of-Concept verification of emerging technologies in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, and IIoT. Kenneth joined Schneider Electric as an Engineering Supervisor, for the Lexington, KY facility, in 2000. During this time, Kenneth led a team of engineers in the specification, design, and support of major automation projects in a facility that produced over 7M brake corner module assemblies annually. Research Manager - IT/OT Convergence
Jonathan Lang is Research Manager for IDC Manufacturing Insights responsible for the IT/OT Convergence Strategies practice. Mr. Lang’s research focuses on digital transformation strategies in environments where operations technologies are deployed including Manufacturing, Utilities, Oil & Gas and Healthcare Provider settings. As IT capabilities redefine and extend the core value drivers of operations technologies, Mr. Lang’s research examines strategies, roadmaps, and governance models to drive this convergence and manage the new data and processes it requires. Director of Global Advanced Mnaufacturing Technology
Susanne joined AGCO Corporation in 2012, initially as a project manager for Manufacturing Automation. In her current role as Director, Global Advanced Manufacturing Technology she represents the business in regards to the Enterprise PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) implementation at all global sites. This is an enabler for AGCO’s Design Anywhere Build Anywhere platform strategy, because it allows the global collaboration between the plants. Expanding on this she also governs projects in the areas of digital plant and process simulation. Susanne is therefore one of the drivers behind the global strategy for Manufacturing 4.0 (Smart Factory), and manages a team that investigates the potential applications for new production tools, such as Additive Manufacturing, Collaborative Robots, AGV’s and Wearable Technologies. Susanne holds a degree in Production Engineering from her native Germany, and came to the United States in 1993 as part of the Space Shuttle manufacturing team. In April of 2017 she received the prestigious STEP Ahead Award from the Manufacturing Institute for her achievements as a female in the manufacturing industry, and a few weeks later she was voted on the national BoD for Women in Manufacturing. Later that year she also received the Front Line Leadership Award from the Georgia Manufacturing Alliance.
Dr. Brian Laughlin is a Technical Fellow/ IT Architect, CAS/GS&S serving as the Co-lead of the Enterprise Point of Use (PoU) Core Team, for Mobile, Wearables and Internet of Things. Brian is currently focused on the area of Wearable computing, Advanced Visualization, and strategic development and implementation of mobile technologies, both across Boeing, and with our customers and suppliers around the globe. Haresh Malkani has three decades’ experience in industrial research, development and engineering, much of that time focused on the application of smart manufacturing technologies ranging from sensors to simulation to advanced process controls. Karen Matthews, a native of Baltimore, MD, began her academic career at the US Naval Academy, received a BS in Electrical Engineering from Morgan State University (1989) and a MEng (1991), a PhD in Electrical Engineering (1998) and an MBA (2007), all from Cornell University. Prior to pursuing an MBA, Karen held senior positions in Corning Incorporated’s Science & Technology Division in opto-electronic packaging and as a research and then senior research scientist. After completing her MBA, she worked as a technology and market development manager for Corning’s Specialty Materials division. Upon returning to Science and Technology, she began working in early innovation stage markets and technologies for the optical communications sector to identify and help implement new growth opportunities. Her focus on moving concepts through to commercialization remains, with a current emphasis the wireless industry. Dr. Matthews has authored numerous publications and patents, been a speaker/keynote speaker at various industry conferences and is a member of several technical and professional organizations. Most recently, she has been invited as keynote speaker, moderator, panelist and open forum discussion leaders at various 5G and Internet of Things-based conferences. She has served as Corning’s Executive Board member of Georgia Tech’s Center for the Development and Application of Internet of Things Technologies (CDAIT) – sitting on the Research Work Group and leading the Thought Leadership Work Group therein.
